| An addon domain functions as a separate domain and can be created from within your cPanel. Addon domains can have their own email addresses, FTP accounts, etc. similar to the main domain of your account. Don't be concerned with the references to "subdomain" in cPanel while setting up an addon domain; and addon domain is addressed with www.your-addon-domain.com and not www.subdomain.yourdomain.com as a subdomain would be. 1. Log in to your cPanel. 2. Under "Domains," click on the "Addon Domains" icon. 3. Enter a domain name, including the TDL (e.g., .com) you want to create. 4. A user name and document root (where the files for the addon domain will reside) will be suggested. You can change these, but it is advisable to accept the defaults provided since they are base on the addon domain name. 5. Enter and re-enter the password for this new account (you can use the password generator to create a strong password). Be sure to make a note of the new password somewhere! 6. Click the "Add Domain" button. Your new domain is setup and ready to use. Remember, the domain name of your addon domain must be registered and the DNS name servers must be pointed to Green State Hosting (see DNS setup (pointing your site to Green State Hosting)). |
