Creating mySQL databases

1. Log in to your cPanel.

2. Under "Databases," click on the "mySQL Databases" icon.

3. Enter a name for the database you want to create (note that the your cPanel username and an underscore are always appended to the front of the database name).

4. Click the "Create Database" button.

Your new database is ready to use. You still need to setup users and assign the users to the database(s) you want that user to access as well as the privileges to those users. To do that:

1. Scroll down the "mySQL Databases" page to the "mySQL Users" section.

2. Enter a username (note that the your cPanel username and an underscore are always appended to the front of the username).

3. Enter and re-enter the password for this new account (you can use the password generator to create a strong password). Be sure to make a note of the new password somewhere!

4. Click the "Create User" button.

Now you need to assign that user to a database:

1. Scroll down the "mySQL Databases" page to the "Assign User to Database" section.

2. Select a user from the "User" drop-down and a database from the "Database" drop-down.

3. Click the "Add" button.

4. Now you can assign privileges for that user for that database. For further information on what these privilveges do, refer to the mySQL documentation.
